Last week, Robb and Madeleine Ahlquist, owners of The Sole Proprietor and One Eleven Chop House, both in Worcester, opened the doors to their new restaurant, VIA, for a local benefit.

VIA, 89 Shrewsbury St., Worcester, will open to the general public at 4 pm. tomorrow.

Back to the fundraiser, which, by the way, raised $100,000 for Alternatives Unlimited Inc. in Whitinsville. The nonprofit, community-based rehabilitation agency offers programs for people in Central Massachusetts who have developmental or psychiatric disabilities.

Tickets were $1,000 a person.

Robb Ahlquist said, “We set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 and reached our goal, thanks to the generosity of the sponsors.” Banks, law firms and insurance companies were among the many contributors.

The VIA menu features authentic Italian meals as well as grilled pizza and sandwiches.
